Donation & Refund Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy explains how donations to SecurePaws Foundation are processed, receipted and, in limited cases, refunded.
1. How donations are processed
Online donations are processed securely by Stripe. Donations are charged in US dollars. The charge appears on your statement as SECUREPAWS or SECUREPAWS FOUNDATION. If your card is issued outside the US, your bank may add a currency conversion or foreign transaction fee.
2. Receipts
You'll receive an email receipt for every donation, showing our legal name, the amount, the date, and a statement that no goods or services were provided in exchange. Keep it for your records. If you did not receive a receipt, contact us.
3. Tax deductibility
Our application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending with the IRS. Until the IRS issues a determination, we cannot confirm that donations are tax-deductible. If the IRS approves our application, recognition generally applies back to our date of incorporation, and we will update this page and our receipts. Donors outside the United States should check their own country's tax rules. We cannot give tax advice.
4. Refunds
Donations are generally final. We will refund a donation when:
- The donation was made in error (for example the wrong amount, or a duplicate charge), and
- You contact us within 30 days of the donation date.
To request a refund, email us with your name, the date, the amount and the last four digits of the card used. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. Payment processing fees may not be recoverable. If a refund is issued, any receipt for that donation is void.
5. Recurring donations
Monthly donations are charged on the same day each month until you cancel. You can cancel or change a recurring donation at any time by using the link in your receipt or by contacting us. Cancellations made at least 3 business days before the next charge take effect for that charge. We send a receipt for each monthly charge.
6. Disputed and fraudulent charges
If you don't recognize a charge from us, please contact us first so we can resolve it quickly. We report suspected fraudulent donations, including payments made with stolen cards, to our payment processor, and we refund them to the cardholder.
7. Restricted gifts
If you ask for your donation to support a specific program, we will use it for that program whenever possible. If the program is fully funded or can no longer go ahead, we will use the donation for the closest purpose within our mission.
8. Donor privacy
We do not sell, rent or trade donor information. See our Privacy Policy.
